Drake Maverick Slips Into San Diego Comic Con

Former-WWE 24/7 Champion Drake Maverick interrupted San Diego Comic Con, dressed as a banana. The WWE Superstar was searching for his lost title belt during Mattel’s panel at the popular convention. Maverick lost the belt to R-Truth during his honeymoon.

Still no word on whether Drake Maverick has consummated his marriage yet.

Roman Reigns Feeling Good

Roman Reigns recently spoke with the Pensacola News Journal about wrestling on WWE’s schedule, while still recovering from Leukemia treatment.

Man, I’ve been killing it lately as far as my nutrition and my training so I feel really good right now, but, yeah man, there was definitely that transition getting back, just before (WrestleMania). And I think that’s why you saw me kind of leaning on The Shield at the time, in that very first match back. I mean, it’s live out there, anything can happen, so they just wanted to make sure to kind of keep the training wheels on me for that match, and I was gliding in there. I felt really good with the role I was playing.

Pensacola holds a special place in Reigns’s heart, as The Big Dog was raised in the area.

With this job, you do a lot of shows and you just keep going and find yourself in new places. But it’s just something that’s so special about being at home. And like you said, I’m still billed from Pensacola, I was born and raised in Pensacola. No matter where I go I never forget where I’m from and I think that’s why if anybody ever asks how I am in real life, I like to think I’m a pretty laid back, grounded dude and that’s ’cause I’m from Pensacola. That’s just how we do it.

WWE Announces “Smackville” Live Event on WWE Network on July 27 With Two Title Matches and Elias “Concert”

There will be a WWE Network live event broadcast special on Saturday, July 27 at a Smackdown live event in Nashville. Here’s the official announcement from WWE:

WWE is proud to announce the SMACKVILLE special event, featuring a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship and streaming live from Nashville, Tenn. exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network on Saturday, July 27.

The explosive in-ring action will include a main event Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship in which Kofi Kingston will be challenged by Dolph Ziggler and Samoa Joe. In addition, newly crowned Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will go head-to-head with former titleholder Finn Bálor in a rematch from WWE Extreme Rules. The evening will also feature a special musical performance by Elias.

Don’t miss SMACKVILLE, streaming live from Music City, U.S.A., on Saturday, July 27, at 9 ET/6 PT, exclusively on WWE Network.

That means they will air:

  • Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Title
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Title
  • Elias doing a musical performance

I assume the Elias musical performance will be interrupted by a babyface wrestler and that could lead to a match as well.

I don’t expect either title to change hands.

They have done similar events in the past like Starrcade specials and The Shield’s Final Chapter special earlier this year.

The event will likely run one or or a little bit more than that.
